May TweetMeet: Industry Innovation and Education

Two people work at a laptop, with the headline TweetMeet: May 7th, 7:00 PM EDT

Our TweetMeet for May is all about the role that technological innovation plays in education and how we can prepare students to take part in the work of tomorrow’s world. As the first generation of true digital inhabitants, today’s students are equipped for flexibility and creativity like never before. How does cutting edge technology make its way into the classroom, and how can teachers engage with it? What will the next big technology be, and how can we prepare students for it? In a world that moves by leaps and bounds, how do we lay out a path that heads in the right direction? On May 7th at 7:00 PM EDT, we’ll be addressing topics like these with a panel of Canadian industry, skill-building, and education leaders.

We have hosts from some amazing organizations:
-Dana Castro, Global Channel Business Development, HP Education
-The Micro:bit Educational Foundation
-Our partners at WE
Carrie Patterson, Chief Operations Director overseeing WE Schools
-The team from Fair Chance Learning

Read on to learn how you can join in on May 7th at 7:00 PM EDT.

What are #MSFTEduChat Canada TweetMeets?

Every month, Microsoft in Education Canada organizes a social event on Twitter for Canadian educators. The hashtag we use is #MSFTEduChat. A team of topic-specialists prepares and hosts these TweetMeets together. They craft questions around a certain theme and share them on Twitter, then our digital attendees strike up a conversation on that topic.
All you have to do is keep an eye on the hashtag and contribute any insights, ideas, or expertise to the conversation. Or you can just listen in! It’s a great way to connect and learn.

The easiest way to keep on top of the conversation is by using TweetDeck. Our friend Marjolein Hoekstra created a quick tutorial to help her OneNote Education TweetMeet attendees. It’s a tool that’ll help you follow the hashtag #MSFTEduChat and engage with fellow participants.
